Some Seybold Locomotive Works History

Well we started in August of 2012 simply as an engine house, yes an engine house to store the Santa Clarita Valley Railroad's founder and owner, Hyde Seybold's privately owned Circus 2-8-0 #3. His idea was to keep it seperate from the SCVR and in it's own shop where it could be housed, maintained, and publicly viewed 24/7. Then another locomotive joined the #3, a fellow Roundhouse engine, a 50's all metal 0-6-0 slopebacker. In deplorable shape but acquired for a great deal. The idea was to house and restore both engines as needed. Soon after a shop was built and the two locomotives were housed It later turned to a repair shop towards the end of September. It was then discovered many people who followed the SCVR wished to have their engines repaired or looked at, thus the contract repair shop started and we've been chugging ever since!

It turned into a repair shop because the SCVR had a list of locomotives in need of repair or restoration so the now Seybold Locomotive Works took on the projects while the SCVR started planning their new line. It was then discovered many people who followed the SCVR wished to have their engines repaired or looked at, thus the contract repair shop started and we've been chugging ever since!  Being around for a year now we've done many restorations, repairs, and rebuilds. Both for ourselves, the SCVR, and various clients.
